Mason's Miracle

Update: Staci called me yesterday afternoon after leaving the neurologist, and Mason's tests came back very good. He has been officially released and can resume all normal activities. He will be unable to tumble, jump on a trampoline or play contact sports for the rest of his life, but everything else can return to "normal". Mason is healthy and whole and healed!! Praise you, Jesus! Thank you to all of you who prayed for my friend! You are a blessing!!

In this season of thanks and celebration of Christ's birth and anticipation of His return, I want to share a story of a miracle. This is only going to be a very abbreviated version because I so want my dear, sweet friend Staci to tell the whole story someday. After all, it is about her son, Mason.

If you don't believe that Jesus still performs the same kind of miracles now that He did when walked this earth in human form, then you haven't met Mason. Allow me the privilige of introducing you to him.

Mason is nine years old, and I have known him since before he was born. He is sweet and funny and sometimes even brutally honest! If ever I have claimed another child as my own, it would be him.

This past summer I got a phone call from his mom, Staci. She was crying, and I knew immediately that something was wrong, very wrong. She began to tell me that Mason had been in an accident at the lake. He had been riding in an innertube being pulled by a jet ski. The inner tube took a wild turn instead of following straight behind the jet ski, and Mason hit the dock sqare with his forehead. It shattered his skull wide open from his nose straight up to his hair line and his brain had been exposed. I fell back against the refridgerator and slid to the floor unable to breathe in any air as I waited for more. He had been careflighted to a hospital in Tyler and then careflighted to Children's here in Dallas and had undergone emergency surgery to put his skull back together. He had lived (much to the doctor's surprise.) Mason's story doesn't stop there by any means because, you see, when Jesus stretches out His hand and heals, He doesn't heal partially or only a little. He makes you whole again, His healing is complete and perfect. Search the scripture for yourself, you won't find a singe one where His healing is anything less. You see, after 10...only 10 days and one more surgery to put his nose back in the right place, Mason left the hospital to go home. He has no brain damage, he has no personality changes or residual problems. He showed up to start therapy a week later and the therapists sent him home because he didn't need any therapy. The accident happened the last Saturday of June, and Mason started school in August just like every other little nine year old boy.

There are so many more miracles that ocurred throughout that 10 days, but I'll leave that for Staci to tell someday. The reason I'm sharing this part with you now is for two reasons...1) so you will pray...not so much for Mason, but more for Staci. You see, Mason goes back in for tests this Thursday to see how his brain has healed after 5 months. I believe with all my heart that the tests will be good (and so does Staci), but as his mommy, after coming so close to losing him, she still worries. My prayer and what I'm asking of any of you that read this blog is that you will pray that God will wrap Staci in His perfect peace. And 2) if you are in need of healing in your own life, you will look to the One who has the power to heal...Jesus Christ.

Sweet Jesus, I praise your holy name. I praise you because you alone are worthy of all my praise. Jesus, today I praise you again for Mason. I praise you for your miraculous healing. I praise you for allowing me to experience it. Jesus, I pray right now that you would wrap Staci in your peace, let her feel your presence and your strength. May your grace abound. I pray that all the test results would come back perfect because I believe your healing is perfect. Thank you, Lord Jesus, may you receive all the honor and glory and praise. In Your Holy and Perfect and Powerful Name I pray, Amen.
